Discover Washington
Washington's mountains reach far beyond its famous volcanoes. Mount Si, Mount Pilchuck and Mount Ellinor bring together three distinct Pacific Northwest settings, from the Cascade foothills near the Snoqualmie Valley to the eastern Olympic Mountains. The enquiry emphasises forest, rocky skylines and the state's varied western mountain geography.
Si and Pilchuck lie on the Cascade side of the region, while Ellinor stands across the Puget Sound lowlands on the Olympic Peninsula. The division is central to the journey's identity: this is an exploration of contrasting western Washington mountain areas, not an attempted continuous traverse. Each summit has a different relationship with the surrounding valleys, water and forest, which can guide the shape of a tailored enquiry.
