Discover Alaska
Anchorage has an unusually direct relationship with its mountains: the city ends where the Chugach foothills begin. Flattop Mountain, Wolverine Peak and Little O'Malley Peak sit within this same broad mountainside landscape, bringing rocky summits and open uplands into a journey that need not reach Alaska's remote interior ranges.
The grouping is deliberately focused around Anchorage rather than combining distant Alaskan giants. Flattop and Little O'Malley belong to the Glen Alps side of the foothills, while Wolverine lies farther northeast. Together they frame a geographically coherent enquiry about the Chugach, with the Cook Inlet lowlands and the city's mountain backdrop providing the wider context.
