Discover Montana

Northwestern Montana's Flathead region combines lakes, forest and mountain skylines. Mount Aeneas, Mount Brown and Big Mountain place this enquiry around that broad landscape rather than across Montana's enormous expanse. They represent different mountain groups surrounding the valleys and communities of the state's northwestern corner.

Aeneas belongs to the Jewel Basin area, Brown rises beside the Lake McDonald country, and Big Mountain is associated with the Whitefish landscape. Those locations create a varied regional journey with three distinct settings. The Flathead valley ties these mountain settings together, with Whitefish to the northwest and the Lake McDonald country to the northeast. Forest and water remain constant themes even as the individual mountain skylines change.
