Discover Maine
Acadia gives Maine a remarkably close relationship between mountains and sea. Cadillac, Dorr and Sargent Mountain all belong to Mount Desert Island, creating one of the most geographically compact state selections in this directory. Granite uplands, woodland and the Atlantic setting provide a clear shared identity without reaching into Maine's much larger interior.
Cadillac and Dorr lie close together on the eastern side of the island's mountain landscape, while Sargent sits farther west. That arrangement makes the differences between individual summits part of a single island story. An enquiry can concentrate on Acadia's coastal mountain character, with time for the surrounding shore and island settlements rather than treating the summit names as isolated boxes to tick.
