Discover Yorkshire

Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough belong together in a way that few mountain trios do. Their recognisable profiles surround the western Yorkshire Dales, where limestone country, grazing land and open moor meet. Pen-y-ghent has a compact, stepped outline; Whernside stretches into a long ridge; and Ingleborough rises to a broad, distinctive summit. The changing shapes of the hills are part of the pleasure of seeing all three.

Horton-in-Ribblesdale and the Ribblehead area give this challenge a strong sense of place. The railway viaduct beneath Whernside is one of its best-known landmarks, while the wider landscape rewards a return visit long after the walking is finished. Enquire about a Yorkshire Three Peaks day for your group, or a more leisurely Dales itinerary with time to experience the villages and scenery between the summits.
