Discover United Kingdom

Three countries give the National Three Peaks Challenge its character. Ben Nevis rises above Fort William in the Scottish Highlands; Scafell Pike sits within the central Lake District; and Yr Wyddfa brings the journey to the mountains of Eryri in north Wales. Together they connect three very different mountain landscapes, from a vast Highland summit plateau to rocky Lakeland ground and the ridges surrounding Wales’s highest mountain.

This is a journey between places as well as a challenge on foot. The travel between Scotland, England and Wales is a substantial part of the experience, so the balance between walking, rest and transfers matters. Tell us whether your group is drawn to the traditional timed challenge or would prefer more time to enjoy each mountain. We can discuss the format around your ambitions and experience.

The mountains

The three summits

  1. Ben Nevis

Britain’s highest mountain rises above Fort William. Its broad summit plateau contrasts with the steep cliffs of the north face.

  2. Scafell Pike

England’s highest summit stands in the central Lake District. Its rocky top overlooks a surrounding landscape of fells and valleys.

  3. Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa)

Yr Wyddfa is Wales’s highest mountain, within Eryri National Park. Its summit is the meeting point of several well-known mountain paths.
