Three Peaks challenges in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is dominated by the broad alluvial landscapes of its river delta. The hills of the southeast provide a distinct upland setting beyond the low plains that characterise most of the country.
The landscapes of Bangladesh
The southeastern hills are geographically distinct from the floodplains formed by the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna river systems. They provide the country’s main mountain-browsing focus, while the delta tells a different landscape story. A hill-country enquiry needs to identify the particular southeastern area of interest, rather than applying the flat geography of the rest of Bangladesh to it.
