Discover Mendoza
Aconcagua's setting belongs to the great Andean barrier along Argentina's western margin. The other selected mountains lie farther south in the same broad frontier landscape, a very different environment from the eastern Pampas or the lower plateaus of Patagonia.
Mendoza's mountains occupy an inland Andean frontier, with Argentina's much lower central plains beyond the ranges. Aconcagua and Tupungato are separate mountain landmarks within this broad high-country setting; they do not form neighbouring tops on one summit ridge or a single continuous ascent.

Cerro Aconcagua
Nevado el Plomo
Tupungato (South Summit)
Tupungato rises on the Argentina–Chile frontier south of Aconcagua. Its southern summit is the specific objective shown here, within the high Andes of Mendoza.
