Discover Central Serbia
Besna Kobila and the other selected elevations belong to Serbia's southern mountain country. Their setting differs from the northern Danube plains, within a region where hills and ranges create pronounced local relief across the wider inland Balkan landscape.
Besna Kobila belongs to southeastern Serbia's mountain landscape around the Vranje region. Nearby high ground continues towards the borders with Bulgaria and North Macedonia, crossing political boundaries within the wider Balkans. Basins and river corridors divide these uplands, giving individual mountain groups their own setting beyond a general description of southern Serbia.
