Three Peaks challenges in Poland
Poland's largely flat lowlands rise toward mountain ranges along the southern border. The southern uplands offer a distinct landscape from the plains that occupy much of the country farther north.
The landscapes of Poland
Most of Poland consists of plains, with the principal mountain country along the southern border. The Sudetes in the southwest and Carpathian ranges farther east give the country's southern edge a different character from the broad lowlands extending towards the Baltic.
Poland's temperate climate brings cold, often cloudy winters and generally milder summers with showers and thunderstorms. The southern mountains occupy only one part of this larger landscape. Their ridges and valleys offer a concentrated upland setting, while the plains remain the dominant feature of the country as a whole.
