The selected elevations belong to Luxembourg's rolling upland landscape rather than an alpine mountain system. Broad valleys and more dissected northern hills create local changes in relief, within a compact country whose southeastern terrain descends towards the Moselle.
Luxembourg's appeal here is the detail of its upland terrain: wooded slopes, broad valleys and locally steeper ground. The northern landscape becomes more dissected towards the Ardennes, while the southeast drops towards the Moselle; these are hill objectives rather than high-altitude mountain climbs.
