Monte Binga anchors this destination in Mozambique's western mountain country near Zimbabwe. These uplands belong to a different landscape from the extensive coastal plains to the east, with high relief concentrated along part of the inland frontier.

The Chimanimani mountains form a highland border landscape shared with Zimbabwe, with Monte Binga marking Mozambique's highest ground. This western concentration of relief is far removed from the country's dominant coastal lowlands and should be understood as a specific mountain region within a much larger country.
