Three Peaks challenges in Egypt
Egypt's Nile valley and delta interrupt a much broader desert landscape. The mountains of southern Sinai provide a separate highland setting, contrasting with the plateaus and low country elsewhere in the country.
The landscapes of Egypt
Southern Sinai contains Egypt’s highest mountain country, including Mount Catherine. It is geographically distinct from the Nile valley, the delta and the broad desert plateaus west of the river. A mountain-focused journey would therefore centre on this peninsula’s interior, with its rocky highlands providing a different perspective from Egypt’s better-known river landscapes and coastal resorts.
