Discover Haute-Kotto
The Central African Republic is largely a rolling plateau, with higher terrain concentrated in particular areas. These named elevations focus on the northeastern interior rather than a continuous mountain chain, within a country far removed from either Atlantic or Indian Ocean coasts.
Seasonal rainfall distinguishes wetter months from hotter, drier periods across this central African interior. The plateau is interrupted by uplands in the northeast and southwest, while broad river landscapes occupy lower ground. The group represents one elevated part of that predominantly plateau-shaped territory.
