Blue Mountain Peak gives this group a clear eastern Jamaican focus. The selected mountains rise within the island's higher interior, contrasting with narrow coastal plains and lower terrain elsewhere, while remaining part of a compact Caribbean maritime landscape.

The Blue Mountains form Jamaica's most conspicuous high ground, with Blue Mountain Peak at their crest. The island's tropical maritime setting and pronounced relief make the relationship between coast and interior especially apparent: the mountains rise within an island of limited width.
