Morne Diablotins lies in a different part of Dominica from the southern mountains in this group. The island's rugged volcanic interior provides the common setting, with narrow coastal margins surrounding high ground that occupies much of the land between them.
Heavy rainfall and northeast trade winds shape Dominica's tropical environment. Volcanic craters and geothermal features add to the island's mountain character, alongside its steep interior relief. The northern and southern peaks belong to the same island system while occupying distinct local landscapes within it.
