Antigua's high ground occupies a compact island setting rather than an extensive continental range. Mount Obama, McNish Mountain and Signal Hill introduce changes in relief within the island, with the surrounding Caribbean and Atlantic waters remaining central to its geographical character.
Antigua's deeply indented shoreline creates numerous bays around the island, bringing maritime scenery close to its inland hills. Temperatures change comparatively little through the year in this tropical oceanic setting; the contrast between rounded high ground and sheltered coastal inlets is more distinctive than altitude alone.
