Discover Valais
Matterhorn and Klein Matterhorn occupy a different part of Valais from Combin de Corbassière. The group therefore spans separate Alpine settings, rather than one ridge, within a region whose high summits contrast strongly with the lower valleys between them.
The Matterhorn and Klein Matterhorn belong to the Zermatt mountain setting, while Combin de Corbassière lies in the separate Grand Combin region. Deep valleys divide these Pennine Alpine groups. Their shared location in Valais links them regionally, but the surrounding basins and ridges give the two areas different mountain identities.
