Mount Olympus places part of this group in the Troodos mountain setting. The other selected high points widen the geographical view across Cyprus, whose central plain and coastal margins contrast with its principal uplands rather than forming a uniformly mountainous island.

Cyprus lies in the eastern Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and cooler winters. Its uplands are separated by lower terrain, so island geography matters alongside summit identity. The Troodos setting and the northern mountain belt contribute different forms of relief around the central plain.
