Discover Bosnia and Herzegovina

The mountains around Maglić belong to Bosnia and Herzegovina's rugged Dinaric interior. This is a landscape of ranges, valleys and high ground rather than a broad plain, with the selected peaks occupying separate positions within the southeastern part of that upland country.

High elevations in Bosnia and Herzegovina have shorter, cooler summers and longer winters than the lower valleys. The southeastern ranges also continue towards Montenegro, so the surrounding mountain geography crosses national boundaries. This is an inland Dinaric landscape, separate from the country's very small Adriatic frontage.
