Discover Lai Chau Province
Fansipan and the other selected elevations belong to Vietnam's northwestern high ground. This setting differs from the lower northern delta and from the central highlands farther south, within a long country whose terrain changes substantially between regions.
Fansipan belongs to the Hoàng Liên mountain region near Sa Pa, while the other named elevations extend the focus into neighbouring northwestern high country. Deep valleys divide these uplands from one another. This inland mountain setting is separate from the Red River delta and Vietnam's long, much lower coastal corridor.
