Discover Ras Al Khaimah
Jabal Yibir and the other selected high points focus on the UAE's eastern mountain country. Their setting differs sharply from the western dune landscapes and lower Gulf coast, with the Hajar uplands providing the region's principal concentration of relief.
The northern Hajar rises between Gulf-facing lowlands and the eastern coast of the peninsula. Bare rocky ridges and deeply cut valleys distinguish these uplands from the surrounding sand plains. Jabal Yibir and the other locations belong to this mountain belt, which continues across the border into neighbouring Oman.
