Discover Syria

The selected mountains belong to Syria's southwestern upland setting, distinct from the country's extensive semiarid and desert plateaus. Their location near neighbouring territories illustrates the continuity of mountain relief across borders rather than a self-contained national range.

Hermon belongs to the Anti-Lebanon mountain system, which rises beside the wider Bekaa and Damascus regions. This highland structure continues across modern political boundaries. The selected locations therefore need to be understood within a broader borderland landscape, rather than as a mountain chain enclosed entirely within one country's interior.
