The selected mountains focus on Saudi Arabia's southwestern interior, near Najran. Rocky uplands and dry valleys give this region a different character from the Red Sea coastal plain, while the much broader Arabian desert landscapes extend beyond the mountain margins.

These locations occupy the inland southwest near the Najran region, rather than Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coastal plain. Rocky high ground here approaches the much drier landscapes of the Arabian interior. The regional setting combines elevated terrain and desert margins, distinct from both the coastal escarpment and the extensive dune fields farther east.
