Discover Hong Kong Three Peaks

Hong Kong’s three highest peaks offer an unexpected counterpart to its urban skyline. Tai Mo Shan rises in the New Territories, while Lantau Peak and Sunset Peak stand on Lantau Island. Their positions give this itinerary two distinct settings: the mainland country parks and the open uplands of the territory’s largest island. The contrast is part of the attraction, with a sense of distance from the city without leaving Hong Kong.

Tai Mo Shan is the highest point, although its summit installation is restricted and the walking objective must respect the public access boundary. On Lantau, the two peaks frame a separate mountain day or a longer island visit. Enquire about a journey that combines these uplands with time in Hong Kong itself, allowing for the warm, humid climate and the season you plan to travel.

The mountains

The three summits

  1. Tai Mo Shan

Tai Mo Shan is Hong Kong’s highest mountain, in the New Territories. The actual summit installation is restricted, so public walks stop outside that boundary.

  2. Lantau Peak

Lantau Peak is the highest summit on Lantau Island. It is Hong Kong’s second-highest mountain.

  3. Sunset Peak

Sunset Peak is Hong Kong’s third-highest mountain. It lies east of Lantau Peak among Lantau Island’s open uplands.
