Thabana Ntlenyana, the northern Hodgson’s summit and Baroa-ba-Baroa belong to Lesotho's elevated inland landscape. The country is entirely surrounded by South Africa, with its mountain and plateau terrain providing a different setting from the lower coastal regions far beyond its borders.
Lesotho's high ground forms part of southern Africa's major inland watershed. Thabana Ntlenyana and the Hodgson's summits belong to the eastern mountain landscape, where the elevated plateau approaches the Drakensberg escarpment; the relief is substantial even though the country is entirely landlocked.

Hodgson’s Peak North
The northern summit is one of the two Hodgson’s Peaks above Sani Pass. Naming this summit distinguishes the mapped objective from its southern neighbour on the Drakensberg escarpment.
