Botswana's landscape is largely flat or gently rolling, so its named hills stand in a different context from the alpine ranges of other destinations. This group focuses on local elevations in the interior, within a country strongly associated with the Kalahari landscape.

The Kalahari occupies much of Botswana, but the country's physical geography also includes an inland delta and areas of exposed local relief. These hills belong to a semiarid interior with hot summers, giving them a very different environmental setting from wet equatorial highlands.
